Poulakerry Castle, County Tipperary, in June 1986.
It had been renovated at the time of our visit with a flat bitumen roof by the family who were living in it.
Sited in a prominent position overlooking the River Suir.
Previous inhabitants may have extracted a toll from boats travelling up river to Clonmel.
Yett holes at entrance door.
No crenellations. Two vaults. Original front door was on the north side. It was heated with storage heaters at that time.
