Liskeveen Castle, County Tipperary, in May 1987. Also known as Kevin’s Fort.
A shell of a building with many interesting defensive details, including a well preserved gun port.
At some stage the tower house underwent a certain amount of modification, judging from the brick work and the later crenellations. We were informed on our visit that the windows had been removed from it and reused in Riversdale House, across the road.
Heavily defended by gun ports and pistol loops, just a shell. No vaults. Some good quality stonework.
