Dromineer Castle, County Tipperary, in September 1987.
Originally a hall type castle, which probably had its entrance on the first floor. It was greatly modified, maybe in the first half of the sixteenth century, to become a tower house with a bawn.
A dramatic ruin, as only two walls survive.
Only two tall walls remained, one with some precarious stones with what appeared to be the remains of a machicolation or garderobe.
According to a local person, at the time, the castle had been surrounded by water and there had been a drawbridge at the back of the adjacent hotel. He also believed that it had once had a stone roof.
