Fethard, County Tipperary in August 1987 and in May 1992.
An Irish medieval walled town which has subsequently undergone a huge restoration and conservation project.
The 1992 photographs were taken with the UK Castle Studies group, when reconstruction was just beginning on the town walls.
The local community is to be congratulated for taking on such a significant task.
The church in the centre of the town has timbers which date to 1489, which makes it the earliest known medieval timber roof in Ireland.
Edmond’s Castle is a hall castle built adjacent to the town wall.
Fethard Castle is at the south/west end of the church wall.
Included is a view of part of Court Castle.
