Kilcolgan Bawn wall, County Offaly, in August 1987.
My informant, at the time, said that a national utility company destroyed the Jacobean castle at Kilcolgan.
All that there was to be found were these massively tall bawn walls, which were in good condition in places, with some good shot holes.
In the SE corner was a turret, along with some ruined buildings.
Inside the walls of the bawn were what appeared to be later farm buildings.
