Ballyadams Castle, County Laois, in June 1987. Unusual plan, several periods, small but tall.
Approx 5 floors. Later crenellations. Ruined house attached. Some well carved window surrounds at higher level.
Butler family were still living across the road from it in those days. Arch, spanning between the two semicircular towers supporting a murder hole over the main door. Wide generous spiral stairs. Section of spiral had collapsed, so access to the higher floors was not possible. Solid first and second floors. Upper floors had gone.
Anyone know if the beautiful old red doors that were stolen in 2018 were ever recovered?
