Killoshulan Castle: did we imagine it or did we actually come across this ghostly tower house, in a remote part of County Kilkenny, at dusk, on a dark dreary evening, in April 1986? Light was fading fast, with fears of ending up lost, these strange few photos were taken quickly, before a speedy retreat was made back through the woods.
My notes state that it was a very small circular tower house, with a garderobe, domed vault over first floor, mural stairs and an inscription over the door: omnia fort aetas castellum. Unroofed. No fireplace. Many loops.
Does anyone know if we imagined it all, or was there really a tower house there?
