Ballyfoyle Castle, County Kilkenny, in March 1986.
According to the mother of the owner, in 1986, the castle was vacated in 1745. It was originally a Purcell Castle, then, the oral history related, it was lived in by Archibald Kramers, who fought with the nearby Blanchflowers.
The house was 200 years old and was built from stone quarried from the top storey of the castle. Some castle batter was also quarried.
A thatched house originally adjoined the castle, but became ruinous when the house was built.
The castle was probably built from stone quarried from the north facing slope above the stream to the east of the tower.
