Drimnagh Castle, County Dublin visited in November 1986, when it was under going restoration. Having been saved by the enthusiastic Peter Pearson.
It claims to be the only remaining castle in Ireland with a flooded moat. There has been a secondary school located in its grounds for many years.
Brother John Leenane, a keen poultry fancier, kept his collection of exotic fowl there, in the 1980s. This gave an earthy authentic feel to the ruined buildings’ surroundings, in an otherwise urban location.
