There is a vault over the first floor. On the east side, a dungeon type chamber at ground floor level approx 6 feet square, it was vaulted and a square hole in the vault gave access.
From the first floor six steps go down to the above hole. Entry to the first floor over ground floor entrance on north side. Good garderobe shute on south side, an elaborate network of garderobes.
There is access to a mural chamber and to a mural stairs on the north side of the first floor.
It is built on a limestone outcrop. The only access was through the dungeon-type chamber and up through its vault.
