Castle Richard or Inchicrenagh Castle, County Cork in 1987. An inscription near the door reads 1592 TG. Just found my notes for this tower. The family who lived there had been there for generations. The tower has two vaults, over the first floor and the third floor. Beautiful cut limestone. The fourth floor was open to the elements. One roof turret. Generous slop shute on 4th floor. 3rd floor has garderobe passage off spiral stairs. Generous curved spiral stairs. Smaller slop shute on 2nd floor. The 4th floor has a circular hole under the east window, legend has it that a cannon was fired from the stream and entered the building here. No chimneys or fireplaces. Murder hole through the stairs to the entrance.
