Ballinterry Bawn, Rathcormac, County Cork in February 1989. Hunting through the undergrowth with the late Hollywood actor, Hurd Hatfield, who owned the property at the time, we found the remains of one bawn corner tower – reasonably intact and another in a collapsed state. A section of the north wall had collapsed shortly before our visit. The house probably stands on the site of the castle, which in all likelihood would have acted as a useful quarry.
