Castlehackett or Castle Hackett, County Galway, in April 1987. An interesting tower with some good details. Our notes from 1987 state the following:
The ground floor was divided by a spine wall running E/W Fireplace first floor on north wall.
3 decorated corbels. Stairs in NW corner. SE corner missing. Fireplaces on west wall on second and third floors. Gables east and west.
Internal walls heavily plastered. Good windows on first, second and third floors.
Soffit of stairs has timber shuttering some still in place at ground floor level.
Clear create of adjacent house/hall attached to the east wall. 3 corner bartizans.
