Mortlestown Castle, County Tipperary, in August 1987.
Good vault over first floor. Very large corbels for first floor beams. Murder hole over entrance and another on stairs.
Garderobe on NW corner and possible prison chamber on north wall. Spiral stairs from second floor to mural passage at third floor level and another passage over it.
Ogee headed mullioned windows on second floor. No evidence of crenellations. Straight mural stairs to second floor.
Nothing much remained of fireplace on second floor.
Wall around entrance door built out and proud of the main wall. Probably had a box machicolis over the door. No batter at base. Rendered on outside.
